Product engineering—not merely manufacturing, but inventing—lies at the heart of Highland. Our dedicated Product Engineering group is made up of experts in textile and chemical engineering, material and polymer science, and real-world manufacturing and processing. Together, they manage each product from conception to final production.

Many of the patentable products, finishing chemistries and manufacturing processes we use were invented right here at Highland. But bringing a new product to market takes more than that spark of an idea. Our engineers work closely with sales, marketing, manufacturing and quality specialists—and with our customers—to make sure everything we do answers a need.

We begin in the lab with materials testing and analysis, then scale up our processes to commercial production. We often follow multiple, parallel paths to make sure we’re attacking a challenge the right way. Our team members are leaders in their technical and professional communities, and we partner actively with leading universities. Because innovation never stops, many of our advances are improvements to existing, time-tested products.
